Torsion™ System
WHAT IS
TORSION™?
Torsionability is the foot's abiliy to adapt to surfaces without forcing the rearfoot to perform excessive motions. The Torsion™ System supports the midfoot while allowing for natural torsionability. The new extended Torsion™ System further improves the forefoot motion control in both linear and lateral movements.
FOOT REQUIREMENTS
Typical motion patterns in sports require the foot to rotate. As the human foot has an ability to twist between the forefoot and the heel, the shoe should adapt to this vital need. A sport shoe which decreases this natural torsional movement (due to high stiffness) can lead to unnatural motion patterns of the foot and could cause a variety of sport injuries.

Reduced midsole material in the midfoot area.
Supporting thermoplastic torsional elements (e.g. three-dimensional Torsion™ bars; V-shaped Torsion™ bars; new Torsion™ elements which are extended into the forefoot). |
Allows for natural torsionability for optimal ground adaption without forcing the foot to perform excessive motions.
Compensate for reduced midsole material in the midfoot section in order to achieve proper support - avoid improper bending under the foot's arch and help instead for correct flex in th forefoot rather than in the midfoot section during toe off. Extended versions allow for better forefoot motion control. |

FEET YOU WEAR™ SHOES
Feet You Wear™ shoes for linear sports possess a three-dimensional medial positioned Torsion™ element which wraps up onto the medial side of the foots arch. A new design of this TORSION™ SYSTEM is extended into the forefoot along the medial side. It will be featured in Equipment shoes only (e.g. Running, Equipment Tyranny). Feet You Wear shoes™ for lateral sports use a Torsion™ element which is positioned under the foots arch. A new design of this TORSION™ SYSTEM is extended into the forefoot along the medial and lateral side. It will be featured in Equipment shoes only (e.g. Tennis; Basketball etc.) |
While torsionability isn't restricted, the Torsion™ element enhances the motion control characteristics. Due to its new medial extension into the forefoot, it contributes to better medial forefoot motion control as it ensures better force dispersion under 1st and 2nd metatarsal heads. Helps to minimize excessive pronation.
Due to the need for lateral support in court sports, the new extended TORSION™ SYSTEM not just ensures midfoot support during fground contact but also improves medio-lateral forefoot stability in quick court specific movements. |

NON-FEET YOU WEAR™ SHOES
Non-Feet You Wear™ shoes made for linear sports (e.g. Running, Walking etc.) contain a V-shaped Torsion™ element with a reinforced medial part. Non-Feet You Wear™ shoes made for lateral sports (e.g. Tennis, Basketball, Indoor etc.) contain a V-shaped Torsion™ element with a reinforced lateral part. |
