1920 - Adolph Dassler produces his first training shoe in Herzogenaurach, Germany.

1928 - Dassler shoes make their debut at the Amsterdam Olympic Games

1932 - The first Olympic medal won in Dassler shoes is awarded to Arthur Jonath when he wins a bronze medal at the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

1936 - Jesse Owens competes in Dassler spikes and wins four gold medals at the Berlin Olympic Games.

1939 - Rudolph Harbig sets a new 800-meter world record wearing Dassler spikes.

1952 - More athletes wear adidas shoes than any other German sports brand at the Helsinki Olympic Games. Emil Zatopek wins the 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters and the marathon in adidas shoes.

1954 - The German team wins the World Cup wearing the rebolutionary soccer shoes with the screw-in studs.

1956 - adidas are worn by 33 world record setters at the Melbourne Olypmic Games. American Al Oerter, the only athlete to win four consecutive Gold Medals, wins his first.

1958 - adidas are worn by a majority of the soccer players at the World Cup in Sweden.

1960 - adidas are worn by 75% of the track and field athletes at the Olympic Games in Rome. Ex-polio victim Wilma Rudolph becomes the darling of the games winning 3 Gold Medals.

1962 - adidas shoes are worn in all 32 games of the World Cup in Chile.

1964 - adidas are worn by 80% of all track and field athletes at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Peter Snell's victories in the 800 and 1500 meters net him two Gold Medals in adidas shoes.

1966 - adidas are worn by 75% of the soccer players at the England World Cup.

1968 - adidas are worn by 85% of track and field athletes at the Mexico Olympic Games. American Bob Beamon leaps into Olympic long jump history, 8.90 meters, wearing adidas shoes.

1968 - adidas "Telstar" becomes the official ball for World Cup play.

1970 - adidas creates the first Official Match Ball for World Cup Soccer, a tradition that continues today.

1971 - Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier face each other in the "Fight of the Century"; both wear adidas boxing shoes.

1972 - adidas becomes the official supplier to the Munich Olympic Games. At 16 years of age, Ulrike Meyfarth becomes the youngest woman ever to win a Gold Medal.

1974 - adidas are worn by 80% of the players at the Germany World Cup.

1976 - adidas are worn by 83% of the athletes at the Montreal Olympic Games. New Zealand's John Walker earns a place in history with his 1500 meters Gold Medal win.

1978 - adidas are worn by 75% of the players at the Argentine World Cup.

1978 - The adidas "Tango" is the official ball of the Argentine World Cup.

1980 - adidas are worn by 20 gold, 22 silver and 19 bronze medallists at the Lake Placid Olympic Games.

1980 - At the summer Games in Moscow over 80% of the participants wear adidas. Cuba's Teofilo Stevenson refuses to go professional despite winning his third Gold Medal in boxing.

1983 - adidas are worn by 85% of the gold medallists at the first World Athletics Championships in Helsinki.

1984 - 10 gold, 16 silver and 14 bronze medallists at the Sarajevo Winter Games wear adidas.

1984 - At the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 124 out of 140 nations compete in adidas products and 259 medals - 81 gold, 82 silver and 96 bronze - are won in adidas. Britain's Daley Thompson sets Olympic and World Redords with his second Decathlon Gold Medal, wearing adidas.

1987 - Steffi Graf plays her way to the top of the word tennis rankings in adidas shoes and apparel.

1988 - 365 medallists from 120 nations at the Seoul Loympic Games wear adidas. American Roger Kingdom's 12.98 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles breaks the Olympic Record. The adidas "Accelerator" sprint shoe is worn by Florence Griffith-Joyner as she sets a New World record in the 100-meter.

1990 - Germany becomes Soccer World Champion - 100% adidas.

1992 - Cuba's Javier Sotomayor wins the high jump Gold Medal wearing adidas shoes.

1993 - adidas becomes the official marketing partner of the Soccer World Cup in the United States.

1994 - The "Questra" ball is official ball of the World Cup.

1996 - adidas are worn by 69% of athletes at the Atlanta Olympic Games. U.S.A. adidas athletes won over 220 medals, 74 of them gold. Donovan Bailey sets an unforgettable world record in the men's 100m final.

1997 - With six of the participating tems outfitted in adidas products and an estimated three billion viewers watching, adidas French national team wins the Soccer World Cup in France.

1997 - Ullrich wins the Tour de France.

1997 - Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie sets new world records in the 10,000 meter and the 2 mile distances.

1998 - Dave Mirra becomes the undisputed star of the X-Games, becoming the first athlete ever to win three gold medals. Mirra is named the 1998 outstanding male athlete of the games.

1998 - The University of Tennessee have a perfect 13-0 season and become national champions defeating No. 2. Florida State at the Fiesta Bowl.

1998 - The New York Yankees become the World Series Champions for the 24th time in 35 appearances, taking it in a four-game sweep.

1999 - adidas becomes the first-ever sports brand to be an Official Sponsor of the Soccer World Cup, all officials and volunteers are equipped with 3-stripe products.

1999 - adidas sponsors the Women's World Cup.

1999 - Yankees take the World Series making baseball history by becoming the first team ever to win in a four-game sweep twice.
